The Meezan and
the Information Age
|
|||||
Imagine
you meet the soul of a man who lived during 300-400AD. He asks you about the
objects and the lifestyle of 21st Century. How would you explain
him about an airplane, a car, a computer or even a bulb? You will have no other option except to use parables
and allegories to express yourself. You will tell that man that we use iron
birds, horseless carts, artificial brains and fuel-less lamps. If the guy
belongs to some later century, you can use some other parables. If a man
living in 2500 wants to express the objects of his age, he would have to put
himself in our shoes in order to make us understand such objects. In the Divine Scriptures like the Bible or the Quran,
some objects of the Hereafter are mentioned. As the man living 300AD cannot
perceive the objects of the 21st century, we are also unable to
comprehend such items of the Hereafter. The Quran describes that God has established a
mechanism to record and evaluate our deeds that will be manifested on the Day
of Judgment. The direct recipients of the Quranic Message were the nomads
living in 7th century. In order to make them comprehend that
system, God has used two metaphors: a book and a scale. وَكُلَّ
شَيْءٍ
أَحْصَيْنَاهُ
كِتَاباً. We have counted everything in a "book". (Quran 78:29) فَأَمَّا
مَنْ
ثَقُلَتْ
مَوَازِينُهُ،
فَهُوَ فِي
عِيشَةٍ
رَاضِيَةٍ.
وَأَمَّا
مَنْ خَفَّتْ
مَوَازِينُهُ،
فَأُمُّهُ
هَاوِيَةٌ. Then whose scales are heavy shall dwell in bliss and
whose scales are light, the abyss shall be his abode. (Quran 101:6-9) From agricultural age, the caravan of humankind entered
into the industrial age which transmuted into the information age. Now we are
living in the 21st century. When I look at the invention of a
computer, it reminds me the God's system of recording and evaluating our
virtues and vices. Had this information age started in the 7th
century, we might have found the parable of a computer to depict the God's
system. I see in my mind's eye that the "Meezan" of God would be a magnificent supreeeeeeeeme computer. The God
who granted tiny particles of silicon the capacity to store terabytes of
data, would have created huge hard disks to store the record of our good and
bad deeds. The Meezan would have an
enormously hefty database containing such records. In our worldly life, we
are continuously doing good and bad deeds which are being posted to the
databases of virtues and vices. The bank accounts of both types of deeds are
updating on real time basis. The database does not only contain the plain data about
our deeds but it also contains the qualitative aspects of our good or bad
actions. At the time of performing a deed, our psychological condition,
intensity of temptation, our capacity of resisting to the temptation, our own
intention, level of Satanic enticement, our harmonic balance, and external
environment, all these factors are also recorded along with our deeds. When God will command the Meezan
to evaluate the deeds of a person, it will take less than a nanosecond to
generate the report of that person by taking all the above-mentioned factors
into consideration. All the debits and credits to our accounts will be
adjusted and a final bottom-line performance indicator will determine our
position. يَا
أَيُّهَا
الإِنسَانُ!
إِنَّكَ
كَادِحٌ إِلَى
رَبِّكَ
كَدْحاً
فَمُلاقِيهِ.
فَأَمَّا
مَنْ
أُوتِيَ
كِتَابَهُ
بِيَمِينِهِ،
فَسَوْفَ
يُحَاسَبُ
حِسَاباً
يَسِيراً، وَيَنقَلِبُ
إِلَى أَهْلِهِ
مَسْرُوراً.
وَأَمَّا
مَنْ
أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ
وَرَاءَ
ظَهْرِهِ،
فَسَوْفَ
يَدْعُو
ثُبُوراً،
وَيَصْلَى
سَعِيراً. O man! You also are toiling on towards your Lord and
are going to meet Him. Then he whose record is given to him [there] in his
right hand will receive an easy reckoning, and he will go back rejoicing to
his family. And he whose record is handed out to him from behind his back
[into his tied up hands] will call for death and shall enter the blazing fire
of Hell. (Quran
84:6-12) It is the time to update our account. It is upon us to
fill our database with righteousness or sinfulness. Remember that repentance
can delete the records of our wrongdoings. We are as blind as a bat to see
the remaining time in our life, so get your skates on.
Think about it! ·
Make
an evaluation of your record with the Almighty Allah. Is it positive or
negative? ·
If you
think that your record with Allah is negative, make a strategy to convert it
into positive. Send
your comments and questions by email to publish them on this webpage. |
