Two
Faces, One Attitude |

For Muslims,
Prophet Muhammad (صلی
اللہ علیہ واٰلہ
وسلم)
is the axis of their faith and love. A Muslim, whether religious or not, is very
sensitive about the love of Prophet. The religion delivered by the Prophet,
the Divine Law and the Quran are the sacred for Muslims.
The glorious
personality of Prophet Muhammad (صلی اللہ
علیہ واٰلہ
وسلم) and his extra-ordinary teachings attracted people of
all ages and regions. But enemies of Islam have targeted these two areas to
create confusion about Islamic teachings. Their objective was to develop
misconceptions in the minds of Non-Muslims as well as Muslims. The strategy
of these enemies of Islam is very simple. They never discuss the positive
aspects of Islam. They try to dig out certain events from Islamic history and
present them without their context. The event is portrayed as something
against reason and ethics. But is one studies the event in its context, it
becomes clear that no logical or ethical issues should arise from it. Another
strategy they use is interpreting facts with a negative mentality. They
deliberately ignore the positive interpretation of events. These people are
either blind due to their enmity with the truth or the risk of losing their
followers compels them to ignore all ethical principles. Violating ethical
principles due to self-interest or being unjust is a special form of negative
character. Such
characters are present not only in the enemies of Islam, but in Muslims as
well. The Quran and the Hadith warn Muslims on numerous occasions to avoid
such characters. We are quoting only one verse. يَا
أَيُّهَا
الَّذِينَ
آمَنُوا
كُونُوا قَوَّامِينَ
لِلَّهِ
شُهَدَاءَ
بِالْقِسْطِ
وَلا
يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ
شَنَآنُ
قَوْمٍ عَلَى
أَلاَّ
تَعْدِلُوا
اعْدِلُوا
هُوَ أَقْرَبُ
لِلتَّقْوَى
وَاتَّقُوا
اللَّهَ إِنَّ
اللَّهَ
خَبِيرٌ
بِمَا
تَعْمَلُونَ. O
believers! Be steadfast for the sake of Allah and bear true witness and let
not the enmity of a group incite you to do injustice; do justice; that is
nearer to piety. Fear Allah, surely Allah is fully aware of all your actions.
(Al-Maida 5:8)
Unfortunately, our religious groups
do not consider it important to teach the ethical principles of Islam. When a
rivalry develops among our religious people, they cross all the limits
imposed by ethics and justice. If you read or hear their books or speeches
respectively against their enemies, you will definitely conclude that there
is no difference between the attitudes of these religious people and the
enemies of Prophet Muhammad (صلی اللہ
علیہ واٰلہ
وسلم). Telling a lie,
false blames, defamation, negative interpretation of facts, interpreting
other’s writing beyond its context, sentencing for heresy, permitting to kill
that person ….. All of these attitudes are commonly adopted by the enemies of
Islam as well as those who stand in the name of Islam. Such people
try to hide themselves under the cover of piety but they leave the path of
God and piety. On the Day of Judgment, they will be brought in the court of
Allah as ‘criminals’. The Almighty Allah will treat them in the same manner
as He will treat the enemies of Islam. (Author: Rehan
Ahmed Yousfi, Translation: Mubashir Nazir)
