Dear Sir
Assalam O Aliacum,
Please tell me the true pronunciation of word ‘waslim’ used in Sall Allah alaihi wa Sallam, Shall we pronounce it with ‘zabr’ (wa sallam) on ‘Lam’ or ‘zair’ on it (wa sallim.)

Respected Sister
Wa alaikum us salam wa Rahmatullah
They are two words: Wa and Sallam. Wa means ‘and’ and literal meaning of Sallam are “Peace was upon him.” Arabs use past tense in meaning of prayer as well, so Sallam means in this context as “Peace be upon him.” The word “Sallim” is a different tense which is used for request or instruction. It means “Invoke peace,” so it does not fit in the sentence structure. Correct pronunciation is “Sallam.”
Wassalam
